About Glenda León

Glenda León is a Cuban visual artist based in Havana and Madrid. León works in various forms including sculpture, drawing, video art, installations, and photography. She is interested in the cross between visible and invisible, sound and silence, and between ephemeral and eternal. Léon often uses raw materials and by-products of music along with materials directly from her body such as strands of hair or gum she has chewed.

Leon has received prizes from The Pollock-Krasner Foundation Award and residencies like Couvent des Récollets, in Paris and Fonderie Darling, in Montreal. She was also part of the Cuban Pavilion in the 55th Venice Biennial with the sound installation Music of the Spheres (2013). She has also been invited and participated in events around the world.
