About the artist

Adam Adach

Adam Adach, born in 1962, is a Polish artist who began his career through working with children in psychiatric hospitals in France as an art therapist. His artistic career took off in 2002 when Hans Ulrich Obrist included his work in the Urgent Painting exhibition at the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris. Adach’s paintings speak to memory, both personal and historical. Pulling in motifs of childhood memories along with references to history and a collective experience, Adach’s paintings stem off into a million different contexts and narratives. Often connecting figurative work with the abstract, he usually starts off with a found image captured from a history book or his own personal scrapbooks.

Adach has had solo exhibitions in Paris, New York, Zurich, Vienna, and Warsaw, along with group exhibitions around Europe, the United Kingdom, and Asia.
