About the artist

Amy Adler

Amy Adler, born in 1966, works across the disciplines of drawing, performance, photography, and film. Adler is known for the ways in which she works between drawing and photography, photographing drawings made from original photographs. She often destroys the original photographs and drawings, exploring ways she can construct and reconstruct identities. Adler is perhaps best known for photographing Leonardo DiCaprio for a series of drawings that have been described as intimate and spontaneous. The project was displayed at UCLA Hammer Museum in 2002. Adler’s work is included in several permanent collections including The Broad Foundation, Los Angeles, The UCLA Hammer Museum, Los Angeles and The Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles.
